Ways to Listen

We make it easy to take your favourite local station with you wherever you go. Whether you are at home, at work, or on the move, here is how to tune in.

The Northants Player (Mobile & Desktop)

The Northants Player is our all-in-one listening hub. You don’t need to download anything from an App Store; our player works on any device, directly in your browser.

How to listen: Simply visit northantsplayer.co.uk on your computer, tablet, or mobile phone. You can switch between Northants 1, Northants 2, Northants Rewind, and Listen Again Features with a single click.

Get the App Experience (Webapp)

For one-tap access, you can add the player to your phone’s home screen, just like a regular app.

  • On iPhone/iPad (Safari or Chrome):
    1. Go to northantsplayer.co.uk
    2. Tap the Share icon (the square with the arrow pointing up).
    3. Scroll down and tap “Add to Home Screen”. (Might be in the “More” menu).
    4. Tap Add.
  • On Android (Chrome):
    1. Go to northantsplayer.co.uk
    2. Tap the Menu icon (three dots in the top right corner).
    3. Tap “Install App” or “Add to Home Screen”.

Smart Speakers

Listen completely free on your Amazon Alexa device or Google Home device.

To get started, you may need to enable our skill first. You only need to do this once.

  • Northants 1: Say: “Alexa, Enable Northants 1” Then: “Alexa, Play Northants 1”
  • Northants 2: Say: “Alexa, Enable Northants 2” Then: “Alexa, Play Northants 2”
  • Northants Rewind: Say: “Alexa, Enable Northants Rewind” Then: “Alexa, Play Northants Rewind”
  • Northants Xmas: Say: “Alexa, Enable Northants X-MAS” Then: “Alexa, Play Northants X-MAS”

Google Smart Speakers

You can listen to us on your Google Nest or Home device by asking for us via our partner radio directories, like Online Radio Box or myTuner Radio.

Try saying:

  • “Hey Google, play Northants 1 on Online Radio Box”
  • “Hey Google, play Northants 2 on myTuner Radio”
  • “Hey Google, play Northants Rewind on Online Radio Box”

(If one directory doesn’t work for you, try asking for the other!)

DAB Digital Radio

Coming Soon! We are currently in the advanced stages of bringing our stations to DAB+ Digital Radio across select areas. Keep an eye on our social media channels for launch announcements!

Troubleshooting

Stream cutting out?

  • Check your internet connection (Wi-Fi or 4G/5G).
  • If listening on a browser, try refreshing the page.
  • If you are using an ad-blocker, try pausing it, as this can sometimes interfere with the stream player.

Smart Speaker not finding the station?

  • Alexa: Ensure you have “Enabled” the skill first. You can also try enabling it via the Alexa App on your phone.
  • Google: Google devices sometimes struggle to find local stations directly. Ensure you add “…on Online Radio Box” or “…on myTuner Radio” to the end of your command so the device knows where to look.
